• A Must Read for Leadership

I love my profession, sailing and travel.

So I was surprised to read a book on vacation I thought would fuel my desire to sail abroad, but that turned out to be an amazing leadership book.

For anyone in business seeking to build a cohesive, high-performance team, Brendan Hall's “Team Spirit: Life & Leadership on One of the World's Toughest Yacht Races” is a must read.

To take 18+ people from all over the world with varying degrees of sailing experience, and to transform them into a proficient, self-sufficient, winning team—and to do it crossing several oceans over thousands of nautical miles where its 24/7 of ‘togetherness’ on an 80-ft yacht over 10 months—is phenomenal.

Brendan’s authentic, introspective, empowering approach to leadership is refreshing. This a great resource for anyone seeking to cultivate their leadership abilities.

Photo note: This is my copy of Team Spirit, alongside photos of my recent dream-come-true adventure: the America’s Cup Yacht sailing experience (FUN!). At 70-ft in length, I tried to imagine performing as a team under fluctuating conditions with 18 strangers 24/7.

    Daunting yes.

But the Clipper Race is also now on my bucket list.

    Thanks for the inspiration Brendan!

Moreover, the Chamber advocates for equitable access to employment, training, and educational opportunities for Indigenous communities, ensuring they reap sustainable benefits from economic development initiatives.

Recognizing the importance of education, the Chamber encourages businesses to provide comprehensive training for management and staff on the history of Indigenous peoples, including the legacy of residential schools, Indigenous rights, and Aboriginal-Crown relations. Emphasizing intercultural competency, conflict resolution, and anti-racism, these efforts aim to foster a more inclusive and harmonious corporate environment rooted in mutual understanding and respect.
