  • Home for the Holidays: Celebrating Connection Across Atlantic Canada

This holiday season, the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce extends warm wishes to our members, partners, and newcomer professionals who now call Atlantic Canada home. The holidays remind us of what truly matters — kindness, belonging, and the joy of community.

As we gather with family, friends, and colleagues, let’s also remember those spending their first winter here. By opening our doors, sharing our stories, and inviting others into our circles, we help turn unfamiliar places into true homes. Every smile, every shared coffee, and every small act of welcome makes a difference.

Through initiatives like the Connector Program, hosted in Newfoundland and Labrador by Amal Unite & Empower in partnership with the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce, skilled newcomers are being introduced to local professionals who open doors, share advice, and offer friendship. This season, we invite business leaders, HR professionals, and community champions to carry that same spirit of welcome into the new year, turning what could be a lonely first winter into a season of warmth, connection, and opportunity. Learn more here: https://amalue.ca/connector-program/

“My wish this season is that every newcomer feels seen, supported, and hopeful about their future here,” — Rhonda Tulk-Lane, CEO, Atlantic Chamber of Commerce.

“As a newcomer, I have learned that belonging often begins with a single act of kindness. Through my work at the Chamber, I have seen how those small connections can truly make Atlantic Canada feel like home.” — Elohor Oghenekaro, Immigration, Policy, Research & Programs Intern.

From all of us at the Atlantic Chamber, may your holidays be filled with warmth, generosity, and connection, and may the new year bring growth, opportunity, and shared success.

Atlantic Chambers Advocate for Region-Specific Immigration Policy

In August, chambers across Atlantic Canada co-signed a letter to The Honourable Lena Metlege Diab, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, urging the federal government to adopt a region-specific immigration carve-out for Atlantic Canada. The letter highlighted the region’s unique demographic challenges, workforce needs, and the proven success of the Atlantic Immigration Program. This collective effort informed the updated Population Growth & Workforce Strategy and resulted in a direct meeting with the Minister to advance these recommendations.
