econext is currently offering a program designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Newfoundland and Labrador better understand and assess their environmental impacts, including greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, waste generation, and energy use.
This program is particularly well suited for companies operating within supply chains connected to sectors such as mining, offshore energy, forestry, and renewable energy. While it may be less applicable for businesses that manufacture consumer goods, it offers significant value for companies whose operations support large industrial or resource-based sectors.
Participating businesses receive guidance and tools to evaluate their environmental footprint, helping them identify opportunities to improve efficiency and sustainability. The insights gained through this process can also support stronger Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting — an area of growing importance for companies working with large industry partners, investors, and procurement processes.
As expectations around sustainability continue to evolve, programs like this can help SMEs strengthen their competitiveness, demonstrate environmental responsibility, and better position themselves within major project supply chains.
