    Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce says premier's ferry comments are bad for business

    Rick Alright, executive director of the Yarmouth and Area Chamber of Commerce, says an economic impact assessment of the service is needed and is calling on the Houston government to stop criticizing the Yarmouth ferry service and to conduct an economic analysis to get a true sense of its impact.

    Yarmouth housing complex for doctors sees huge success

    A new housing complex in southwestern Nova Scotia specifically for doctors temporarily practising in the area is paying off. Kerry Muise, who chairs the chamber of commerce's doctor recruitment team in Yarmouth, said the provincial health authority and other hospital towns have been impressed with the singular focus on bringing doctors to southwest Nova Scotia.

    Medical learner housing project underway in Yarmouth with new construction coming

    A new housing project at 30 Vancouver St. in Yarmouth is moving forward to address the housing needs of medical learners. After much effort to make an existing building work, Coastal Financial Credit Union's board of directors, supported by the Yarmouth and Area Chamber of Commerce, determined that the current house will be demolished and replaced by a new facility.

    The Atlantic Chamber of Commerce takes proactive steps to promote reconciliation and respect for Indigenous rights within the corporate sector. In response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action 92, the Chamber urges its members to embrace the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as a guiding framework.

     

    Recognizing the importance of education, the Chamber encourages businesses to provide comprehensive training for management and staff on the history of Indigenous peoples, including the legacy of residential schools, Indigenous rights, and Aboriginal-Crown relations. Emphasizing intercultural competency, conflict resolution, and anti-racism, these efforts aim to foster a more inclusive and harmonious corporate environment rooted in mutual understanding and respect.
