Atlantic Chamber of Commerce and Amal Unite & Empower Launch New Partnership to Connect Newcomer Talent with Local Business

St. John’s, NL — The Atlantic Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and Amal Unite & Empower are proud to announce a new and exciting partnership aimed at building a more inclusive and connected workforce across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Amal Unite & Empower became the official host of the National Connector Program in Newfoundland and Labrador in July 2024, leading the coordination of the program across the province. Through this new partnership, the program will expand its reach by working with ACC’s 21 member chambers and boards of trade that choose to participate. Together, the initiative will support newcomer professionals in making meaningful connections with local employers, business leaders, and industry champions.

“This partnership is about creating real, human connections between newcomer talent and our local workforce,” said Rhonda Tulk-Lane, CEO of the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce. “It’s good for our communities, good for business, and essential for a thriving future.”
Amal Unite & Empower will lead program delivery, provide onboarding and training for Connectors, and host engagement events throughout the year. ACC will leverage its network to promote the program, host information sessions, and encourage businesses to engage their employees in this impactful work.

“This collaboration shows what’s possible when we come together with a shared goal—helping people find their place and purpose in our communities,” said Laura Aguirre Polo, Manager of Amal Unite & Empower.

Together, ACC and AUE are building bridges, breaking barriers, and growing opportunities for everyone.
