FREDERICTON – Canada United, a national movement led by RBC that the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce has joined, will offer up to $5,000 grants to support small, local businesses.
“The Fredericton chamber is pleased to support the Canada United movement and help bolster businesses in and around our community. Small businesses are the backbone of our local economies and key to thriving communities,” says Fredericton Chamber CEO Krista Ross in a release.
The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce says small and medium-sized enterprises that create jobs, drive innovation, and generate wealth for communities in New Brunswick will play a key role in helping the province bounce back.
Canada United, which includes 50 of the country’s leading brands, business associations and the national chamber network, aims to rally Canadians to support businesses in their communities by buying, dining and shopping local, especially during the Canada United Weekend August 28-30.
As part of the campaign, RBC is encouraging people to watch the videos at GoCanadaUnited.ca, like posts from @GoCanadaUnited on social media and use #CanadaUnited to show their support. The bank will then contribute 5 cents, up to a maximum of $2 million to the new Canada United Small Business Relief Fund for each of these actions until August 31.
RBC also plans to source additional contributions from government and corporate partners during the campaign. The fund is meant to help small businesses across Canada cover expenses related to personal protective gear, renovations to fit re-opening guidelines, and developing or enhancing e-commerce capabilities.
The fund will be built until August 31, to a maximum of $2 million. Small businesses can apply for the grants then, through GoCanadaUnited.ca. The Ontario Chamber of Commerce will administer the funds on behalf of the national Chamber network.

Emphasizing intercultural competency, conflict resolution, and anti-racism, these efforts aim to foster a more inclusive and harmonious corporate environment rooted in mutual understanding and respect.
