    Thank you for your letter and for sharing the Atlantic Economic Council's (AEC) report, Sound the  Fiscal Alarm: What Atlantic Canada Must Do to Avoid a Fiscal Crisis.

    I appreciate the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce's engagement on this important issue and your willingness to contribute constructively to the discussion surrounding Newfoundland and Labrador's long-term fiscal sustainability. The challenges outlined in the report, including persistent 
    deficits, rising debt levels, and increasing debt-servicing costs, are matters our government takes seriously.

    Our government recognizes the importance of maintaining a strong fiscal foundation while continuing to provide the public services that residents depend upon. At the same time, we must ensure that Newfoundland and Labrador remains positioned to support economic growth, attract investment, improve productivity, and create opportunities for future generations.

    As we begin planning for Budget 2027, we will carefully consider the issues and recommendations raised in the AEC report. Thank you again for writing and for your commitment to the future of  Newfoundland and Labrador.
