• Atlantic Chamber of Commerce Welcomes 125th Chair Steve Lund

    Windsor, NS (June 11, 2020) – The Atlantic Chamber of Commerce (ACC) announced its board of directors for 2020-2021 where Steve Lund was sworn in as ACC’s new board chair during the 124th annual general meeting. Steve is a well-known business executive and Partner with Deloitte.

    “Chambers of Commerce contribute greatly to building strong and resilient communities, so I’m excited to serve as chair of the board of the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce as we mark our 125th year in service of business,” says Lund. “The future of business is being redefined right in front of us, so the chamber network has never been more important.  The amazing team we have at ACC is ready to play its part in the face of uncertainty to recover and rebuild our local and provincial economies in Atlantic Canada. I know our Chamber teams and volunteers across the network remain steadfast in their dedication and support of business.”
     

    Biography of Steve Lund


    Steve Lund, CPA, CA, is a bilingual Monctonian with over 15 years of experience serving some of New Brunswick’s most iconic companies as a Partner with Deloitte.  He is the New Brunswick Audit Leader for Deloitte and is the Market Leader for the Moncton office. In this role, he has led or participated on engagements related to corporate governance, data analytics, international tax, corporate finance, valuation, M&A, cyber security, IT implementations, public offerings, assurance and accounting advisory.
     
    In addition to ACC, Steve serves on the Board of Directors of CPA New Brunswick and is the Co-Chair of Canada’s Great Kitchen Party in New Brunswick, which provides young Canadians with opportunities to be extraordinary through sport, music and food. Steve is also an active member of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton.

    The Atlantic Chamber of Commerce is taking proactive steps to promote reconciliation and respect for Indigenous rights within the corporate sector. In response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action 92, the Chamber urges its members to embrace the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as a guiding framework. This entails a commitment to meaningful consultation, fostering respectful relationships, and obtaining the free, prior, and informed consent of Indigenous peoples before embarking on economic projects. Moreover, the Chamber advocates for equitable access to employment, training, and educational opportunities for Indigenous communities, ensuring they reap sustainable benefits from economic development initiatives.

     

    Recognizing the importance of education, the Chamber encourages businesses to provide comprehensive training for management and staff on the history of Indigenous peoples, including the legacy of residential schools, Indigenous rights, and Aboriginal-Crown relations. Emphasizing intercultural competency, conflict resolution, and anti-racism, these efforts aim to foster a more inclusive and harmonious corporate environment rooted in mutual understanding and respect.
